Aadiel Essop

Founder and Director of Synergy Physiotherapy
Aadiel graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2018, during his tenure as a student he also completed diplomas in Sports Nutrition and Fitness Coaching.

He fulfilled his community service obligations in the North-West Province of South Africa, at Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex. At the hospital, he provided service to the ICU, High Care, Orthopaedic, Neurological, Medical and Surgical wards as well as the Outpatient Clinic. The Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex is not only the main referral hospital of the North West but also serves as a teaching hospital for Wits University.

Currently, Aadiel works as a Physiotherapist at Mediclinic Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre and Mediclinic Morningside. During his service, he has had the opportunity to work and interact with many specialist physicians and surgeons and has gained knowledge of new physiotherapy techniques that are evidence-based.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, while he was part of the Wits Donald Gordon COVID-19 team, he decided to utilize the expertise and skills he acquired in the hospital to assist those outside of it. This led to his involvement in several home-based care teams, with the primary aim of servicing individuals infected by the COVID-19 virus.

Subsequently, he initiated the provision of home visit physiotherapy to those who were severely de-conditioned and the elderly. This served as the foundation and the inspiration for the establishment of Synergy Physiotherapy.

In 2021, Aadiel opened Synergy Physiotherapy, a purely home-based care service with the objective of treating individuals who were unable to access a practice due to the burden of disease. In 2022, he expanded the services to treat a broader range of conditions and established a permanent practice at the Heath and Wellness Medical Centre in the South of Johannesburg. In 2023, Synergy Physiotherapy moved to service those in Randburg at the Greenside Clinic, providing the same high-quality service as before.

In his leisure time, Aadiel enjoys being active, both mentally and physically. He indulges in playing squash and padel and also continuously strives to improve his own skillset and enhance the outcomes of his patients by learning new and innovative training techniques.
